About Where Rasta Meets Pasta

Hi!  Thanks for reading my blog.  My name is Dara Renton and I manage web services for  the busiest public library in North America > The Toronto Public Library.  After nine years working on professional services web management, I’ve embarked (as of Sept 07) on this new gig where my primary mandate is to create a compelling and user centred customer experience through my skills in user experience design, interactive design and information architecture.

Where Rasta Meets Pasta describes my neighbourhood in Toronto, Canada.  I live firmly between Corsica Italia and a strip of St. Clair Avenue that hosts some of the best Jamaican take out in the city.

I’m married to a complete technophobe who I love dearly nonetheless.  We have two tech savvy daughters and have a crazy Houdini like dog named Jocky (if you live in my neighborhood, you’ve probably seen him around!)    If you want to contact me I can be reached at dara {dot} renton {at} rogers {dot} com.

P.S.  The postings on this site are my own and don’t represent the Toronto Public Library’s positions, strategies or opinions.

    Hi Dara,
I stumbled upon your blog through your notes on the IA summit, and am thrilled that you live in Toronto! I’m a fellow “GUI Girl” in the big smoke, and wondering if there are any communities you are involved in locally that focus on IA or UCD.

I’m currently a BA/IA specializing in Usability with ThoughtWorks and I am involved in some groups and organizations but most are out of the US. I’m looking to work more closely with some local folks… hoping you might have some ideas!

cheers and thanks for the fun reads,
    ~marina

Will the board buy you some new hardware to go with the soft side to the upgrades catalogue?

We have fast machines running – I wish this were the problem because getting new hardware would be the simplest way to solve it! I should note that not all users have this problem only a few…
